6 Ways to Hide Toys in Common Spaces

Part of parenthood is stepping on legos and finding tiny unicorns in surprising places throughout your house, but toys strewn about your living room at any given moment can definitely cause stress + overwhelm. Here are 6 ways that I hide toys in common spaces in our own home.

1. Baskets with Lids

This might seem like a no brainer, but you guys, THE LID IS SO IMPORTANT. I can’t tell you how many times I walk by an open basket full of toys and get triggered. Out of sight out of mind!

2. Paper Mache Bowls

These are items that I already had because I think they’re both beautiful + functional. I use them in our living room to house video game controllers and cords so they’re easily accessible, but also out of view.

3. Faux Leather Baskets

These are light-weight, easily transportable, and a great solution for lower shelves on bookcases that can keep a few of your kids’ larger toys or the tiny little pieces you don’t want to get lost.

4. Storage Ottoman

Don’t sleep on furniture with storage capabilities! Look for ottomans, stools, and coffee tables that come with extra space to hide all those toys for you, but keep them within reach of your littles.

5. Leather Magazine Rack

A hallmark of children’s books is bright colors. Maybe they’re in direct opposition to your own personal aesthetic? Use a magazine rack that’s cohesive with your style to mask some of those primary colors.

6. Media Console

What’s inside your media console? Ours solely houses board games, puzzles, video games, extra controllers, cards, you name it! It’s in the center of the home, so we can all play together, but out of sight to keep Mama sane.

We aren't super social (media) people!
